Happy Monday FitFam!! I don’t know if you were rooting for the Eagles or the Chiefs but I wanted to share a valuable lesson from Patrick Mahomes that applies to you and your fitness journey.

Exactly TEN YEARS ago he posted the image below. It reads..

I bet it feels amazing to be the quarterback who says “I’m going to Disney World” after winning the Super Bowl.

He is currently 27 years old, that means he was 17 when he posted that. He was already dreaming. He was clear on a goal.
Yesterday he made that goal a reality.

How does this apply to you and your fitness journey?

I talk to way too many clients who are fuzzy on their goals. They use soft language like…

  • I want to get healthy
  • I want to lose weight
  • I want to feel better

That’s too vague. It lacks clarity. Patrick Mahomes didn’t say it must feel great to win a game. He was specific about winning the Super Bowl.

What are your goals? Do you have them written down? Are they ultra specific or vague?

It’s impossible for a GPS to take you to a location without an address. You must know where you are going to know if you have arrived or not. Here’s some examples…

  • I want to get off my meds by June
  • I want to lose 25 pounds
  • I want to reduce or eliminate by knee pain this year

I highly recommend you write down 1 or 2 goals that are super specific. And take it a step further by speaking to them out loud.

That’s the final thing we can learn from this example. He blasted it on social media. He didn’t keep it to himself.

I’m a firm believer that when you speak out your goals, things start happening to help those dreams come true. People will come into your life, opportunities will show up and you will begin to see it all come together.

But it doesn’t happen overnight. This took him YEARS. Many people are impatient and want things immediately. But we shape our character along the way so that when those goals come true, we are the right person who can accept it.

They say success is the crossroad of opportunity and preparation. Let’s make it a great week of preparation for future success!!

Drop your specific goals in the comments below so me and the team can help make them a reality!!
